Research: Pelagic Ecology, Zooplankton Ecology, Ecological Physiology
Specialties: Euphausiid Ecology, Writing & Editing
My background is in zooplankton ecology with an emphasis on euphausiids. Prior to joining CMS I studied euphausiid ecology in Antarctica, the Northeast Pacific, the Bering Sea, and the Yellow Sea. At CMS I work with Dr. Brad Seibel as a research assistant and lab manager. Research in our lab focuses on ecological physiology of marine organisms, particularly in the pelagic and deep sea environments, and how changing ocean conditions may impact these animals. Our projects include studies in Antarctica, the Eastern Tropical Pacific, the Gulf of California, and the Gulf of Mexico. In the Tampa Bay region we have conducted research on local species of shrimp, fish, and sharks, and I hope to expand our studies to include local species of zooplankton.
