USF Libraries preserves local African American history
A bountiful repository of local African American artifacts spanning more than 150 years provides a glimpse into the community’s lives, struggles and achievements in Tampa Bay. Rare books, personal papers, photographs and even property records are available in the USF Tampa campus library, the Nelson Poynter Library at USF St. Petersburg and online.

Kristina Keogh named new dean of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library
Kristina Keogh has been named the new dean of the Nelson Poynter Memorial Library at the USF St. Petersburg campus. Keogh comes to USF after being the director of library services for the past six years at the Alfred R. Goldstein Library at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL.

The USF Libraries are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Florida Ornithological Society (FOS). Considering the Libraries’ many previous successes with environmental scholars and the Audubon Society of Florida, the FOS seemed like a natural fit to join the Florida Environment and Natural History nest.

The Tampa Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Selects USF Libraries to House Archives
The USF Tampa Library acquired a particularly special collection: The Tampa Chapter of The Links, Incorporated archives, one of the oldest and largest volunteer organizations in the country. The organization has a membership of more than 16,000 women of color committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic endurance of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

Awards season celebrates Cape Canaveral docu-short
In October 2019, USF Innovative Education’s Digital Learning production team premiered their docu-short "Our Last Chance: Preserving Cape Canaveral," which chronicled USF Libraries Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections' ongoing preservation work with the cultural resources division of the 45th Space Wing at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Celebrating the life and work of Skip Gandy
The USF Libraries celebrate the life and work of George “Skip” Gandy IV, 1942-2020. A Florida native, Gandy’s childhood on Davis Islands shaped him into becoming an avid outdoorsman, environmental activist, and an honored donor to USF.
