Courtney Coggan
Courtney Coggan, M.S.,
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Pronouns: She/her/hers
Languages in which I conduct therapy: English
My approach to therapy: I am a proud USF Alumni who is grateful for the opportunity to return to USF and give back to an institution that meant a lot to me while I was a student. Go Bulls! I am a white, cisgender, female identified Clinician whose counseling approach is client-centered, strength-based, and collaborative. I create a compassionate and non-judgmental space that allows room to make specific goals in order to help guide our work together. I focus on identifying healthy coping skills and positive methods of problem solving. My theoretical orientation is primarily cognitive behavioral. I also integrate solution-focused interventions, motivational interviewing techniques, and I utilize evidence-based practices. My professional interests include working with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, positive psychology, mindfulness, life skills, stress management, interpersonal communication skills, relationships, and women's issues. I also have training in and enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ population. Growing up with both of my parents in the education field, I was taught to value the experience of learning and making your time in school an enriching one. I understand that college students have a unique set of challenges that come at a pivotal time in their lives and I consider it a privilege to be able to provide support.
My approach to supervision: I use competency-based supervision integrated with a multicultural framework.
