Department of Physics professor leads study on novel structure spintronic devices

Dr. Xiaomei Jiang, associate professor in the Department of Physics, is a dedicated researcher in the field of spintronics. Spintronics is the study and use of the spin of electrons and holes to create faster and more efficient electronic devices. The goal of spintronic devices is to harness and manipulate electron spin to enhance data computing performance compared to conventional electronics.

Astronomy Professor of Instruction Kevin MacKay was determined to make his upcoming road trip better than the one in 1999 when he took a group of students to England to see a total solar eclipse. Moments before the big event, clouds rolled in, obstructing their view. Although it was a great experience, he always wanted to try it again.
