Dance Admissions

Overview

All prospective Dance Majors and Dance Minors must audition during the year prior to their first semester to be placed into the Dance Program. The dance faculty places great value on each student’s individual potential in dance as well as in academic success. Acceptance as a USF Dance Major is contingent upon both the acceptance by the University of South Florida and by the Dance Department through the audition process.

To declare a major/minor in dance, the student must place into at least the level I in both ballet and modern dance. If placed in fundamentals, the student cannot declare a major or minor in dance.

Admission into the BFA in Dance Performance program

Dance majors pursuing the BFA in Dance Performance must participate in a secondary admissions procedure. After being accepted into the dance program, prospective BFA students will be evaluated following the completion of their first year. Formal acceptance into the BFA program will be based on technical ability, performance qualities and academic standards.
