Master of Science in Marketing

Overview

The Master of Science in Marketing is a 30-34 credit hour specialized graduate degree. For the professional currently employed in marketing, it offers the opportunity to enhance overall knowledge, skills, and abilities. Students can choose an area of emphasis in marketing analytics, or digital marketing and brand management. The MS in Marketing offers sufficient preparation to qualify the graduate for adjunct teaching in community colleges and AACSB and SACS-accredited institutions. For a small number of students, the MS in Marketing is expected be a stepping stone to the PhD.

The MS in Marketing is designed for individuals who:

  • Want a specialized, research-oriented marketing degree,
  • Want to prepare themselves for leadership in the discipline,
  • Want to prepare themselves for more technical careers in marketing, marketing communications, or marketing metrics,
  • Want to meet minimum qualifications for teaching at SACS and/or AACSB accredited institutions.

Students with no academic preparation in business must complete foundation coursework in statistics and marketing . This requirement can be met by completion of QMB 6305 Managerial Decision Analysis and MAR 6815 Marketing Management.

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in a business discipline other than marketing at an AACSB-accredited institution within five years preceding admission to the program may be eligible to waive the statistics requirement, but must complete MAR 6815.

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in marketing at an AACSB-accredited institution within five years preceding admission to the program may be eligible to waive both foundation courses. .
