Non-Degree Admission

Transient & Visiting Students

USF welcomes students from other institutions to enroll on a term by term basis!

Transient Students

If you are currently enrolled at a Florida Public College or State University, you are considered a Transient Student.

ADMISSION:

STEP-BY-STEP TRANSIENT STUDENT APPLICATION GUIDE

  1. APPLY at FloridaShines.org.  Follow the process to “take a course at another school.”  You do not need to submit transcripts, pay an application fee, or provide residency documentation. Please do not complete a USF Non-Degree application. Once fully approved, you will receive a welcome email from USF with next steps.

ENROLLMENT:

  1. CHECK your registration appointment time in OASIS at MyUSF.  All non-degree students have the same appointment time.

  2. SEARCH for courses using the online Dynamic Schedule search.  A video tutorial is available for tips on using the tool.

  3. REGISTER for classes in OASIS at MyUSF on or after your appointment time but before the end of the Drop/Add period.

  4. ERRORS during registration?
    • Pre- or co-requisite errors: email nondegree@usf.edu with your university ID number (U#), the course prefix and course number (e.g. ENC 1101). The academic advisor’s permission in the Florida Shines application will serve as approval that all course requisites have been met and a permit to register will be issued upon email request.
    • Other registration errors: visit the Course Permits page for further instruction.
