Note: ***The Out-of State Fee Waiver DOES NOT change a student's residency status at USF. Students must submit a waiver to the Office of Veteran Success EVERY SEMESTER***
The University of South Florida is proud to offer a waiver of Out-of-State fees to Active Duty service members, Veterans, and Veteran Dependents who meet specific requirements as delineated in USF Regulation 4.0108, Board of Governors Regulation Chapter 7.008, and Florida Statute Title XLVII, Chapter 1009.26.
STUDENT VETERANS
USF will waive out-of-state tuition and fees for any honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed and Reserve Forces (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy) and the National Guard (Army and Air) who PHYSICALLY RESIDE in Florida while enrolled at USF.
VETERAN DEPENDENTS receiving educational assistance from the us department of veteran affairs
Veteran dependents who are CURRENTLY USING their VA education benefits in the semester also qualify for this waiver if they PHYSICALLY RESIDE in Florida while enrolled at USF.
ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY STATIONED OUTSIDE FLORIDA
USF will waive out-of-state tuition and fees for a person who is an active duty member of the Armed Forces of the United States residing or stationed OUTSIDE of the state of Florida.
ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY STATIONED INSIDE FLORIDA
Note: ***If you are currently stationed INSIDE the state of Florida, you DO NOT need an Out-of-State Fee Waiver***
All active duty military personnel stationed INSIDE the state of Florida while enrolled at USF should email a copy of their active duty orders to either the USF Admissions office (if you are in your first semester) or the USF Office of the Registrar (if you have been a USF student longer than one semester). After processing, your residency status will be changed to "Florida Resident-Special Catagory" and you will no longer be charged out of state tution and fees by USF.
