Hiring Assistant Instructor of Advertising
The Zimmerman School invites applications for a full-time Assistant Instructor of Advertising position for the Spring 2022 term. We seek candidates with teaching interests and expertise in creativity and design. Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience that meet national and/or regional accreditation standards.
Hiring Assistant Instructor in Digital Media
The Zimmerman School seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time assistant instructor in digital media position beginning in August 2022. Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in journalism, broadcast news, mass communications, or a closely related field. Expertise in news, data analytics, and audience engagement are also required. Review of applications will begin the week of Nov. 8, 2021. Position is open until filled.
Hiring Endowed Professor of Advertising
We seek candidates with records of distinction in advertising who will contribute directly to the mission of the Zimmerman School and enhance the School's undergraduate and graduate programs. Requires Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution in advertising, media studies, mass communications, strategic communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.

We're hiring an Associate/Full Professor and Director of Graduate Programs and Research. We seek an outstanding journalism, media, communication scholar, and leader with a bold vision for graduate education in mass communications to energize the graduate program, expand program offerings, and build graduate enrollments through strategic recruiting and marketing. Ph.D. or equivalent degree is required.

The New York Times interviewed Dr. Janelle Applequist about how the coronavirus pandemic is affecting the advertising industry. The Zimmerman School associate professor reflected on the appeal of ads promising solace.
Dr. Walker collaborating with BayCare
Researchers are collaborating with public health agencies and businesses to combine neuromarketing and biometric tools from the Muma College of Business Center for Marketing and Sales Innovation neuromarketing lab with expertise in social marketing and health communications from the College of Public Health and Zimmerman School of Advertising and Mass Communications.
Students adapt to air TV newscasts remotely
The Zimmerman School is so proud of how our students adapted to the pandemic. Jeanette Abrahamsen's Florida Focus class teamed up with Wayne Garcia's News Editing class to produce daily newscasts remotely for Tampa’s PBS affiliate.
Bell and Applequist Win National Book Award
Two Zimmerman School researchers, Assistant Professor Travis R. Bell and Associate Professor Janelle Applequist, along with their co-author Christian Dotson-Pierson (University of South Carolina), received the Outstanding Book Award from the National Communication Association’s Communication and Sports Division.
Director Wins Distinguished Scholar Award
Zimmerman School Director Kathy Fitzpatrick was honored with the Distinguished Scholar Award by the International Studies Association Diplomatic Studies Division at its annual conference this month. This award recognizes a career of excellence in research and teaching in diplomacy and an impressive record of service to the community of diplomacy students and scholars. A special session was held at the conference to recognize and honor her work.
