For Receiving Facilities

Electronic Submission

Electronic submission of involuntary examination (Baker Act) documents is required as of a change to F.A.C. 65E-5.280 that took effect 5/4/2020. We do not accept\process mailed documents as of 1/1/2022.

Receiving facilities are now required scan these documents into .pdf files and securely transfer them to us. Known as "electronic submission," this saves staff time (yours and ours), printing/mailing costs, and takes fewer days for the Baker Act Reporting Center to receive these documents.

Designated receiving facility staff are encouraged to contact the Baker Act Reporting Center at bakeract@usf.edu for instructions about how to begin the electronic submission process. Our staff can assist you in determining which secure file transfer (SFT) option works best for your facility and provide technical assistance call/zoom sessions to assist with the initial set up and problem-solving over time.
