Degree Options

Bachelor of Arts in Criminology

Offered through USF Tampa, USF Sarasota-Manatee, and USF St. Petersburg

This degree offers the flexibility to complete criminology courses entirely online, entirely in-person, or a blending of both. 

USF’s undergraduate degree in Criminology provides students with an in-depth exposure to all facets of the criminal justice system and prepares students for a wide array of career options or graduate/law school.

Student Learning Outcomes - B.A. Criminology

CRIMINOLOGY SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Research Methods
Students will understand the various research methods used in criminology and criminal justice research.

Theory & Policy
Students will understand the basic concepts of criminological theory and how it's assessed in the discipline of criminology and criminal justice.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Criminology students will demonstrate critical thinking and analytical abilities, including the capacities to engage in inductive and deductive thinking and quantitative reasoning, and to construct sound arguments.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Criminology students will demonstrate effective oral communication skills.

MINOR IN CRIMINOLOGY 

Offered through USF Tampa, USF Sarasota-Manatee, and USF St. Petersburg

The objective of the undergraduate minor in Criminology is to develop an educational basis either for graduate work or for professional training in the modern urban criminal justice system. It is possible to complete the entire criminology minor online.

CYBERCRIME CONCENTRATION

Beginning in Fall 2022, we will be offering a concentration in cybercrime. Students will be required to take 4 elective courses or 12 credits out of their required 6 elective courses of 18 credits for the major.
