6x6 is a themed reading showcasing the work of six undergraduates and six graduate students. Past themes have included Mirrors, Underwater, and Monsters. Students are invited to submit original work of 1,000 words or fewer in poetry, fiction, or non-fiction.

Writer's Harvest is an annual USF MFA charity reading, originated eight years ago by Professor Ira Sukrungruang. Local writers give their time for this public reading, with a small donation or canned goods accepted for audience admission. Last year the event generated a total of $1,100 and 178 pounds of food for Feeding America, Tampa Bay.

Blank Pages: USF's Creative Writing Symposium is a celebration of the word and our robust MFA and undergraduate creative writing programs. Students present panels on the scholarship of creative writing; there is a reading by past alums of the program; and craft talk and reading conducted by a keynote speaker. Past Keynotes speakers: Dinty W. Moore, Sandra Meek, Karen Brown and Tim Seibles.

Curtain Call is an annual celebration and reading featuring our graduating writers, hosted by first and second year students. Each year, the graduating class selects a non-profit organization to support and sells chapbooks of their writing to raise donations. The evening concludes with refreshments at a local restaurant.

The USF English Department Facebook events page shares events happening in the department and around campus, including including CRW events, open mic nights, lectures, workshops, conferences, and readings!

Literary Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay area, home to over three million people, bustles with bars, bookstores, reading series, internationally-recognized museums, lecture series, artists' studios, coffee shops, vintage stores, breweries, bike shops, and local colleges where visiting writers present readings that are free and open to the public.
