Academic Advocacy

Graduation Concerns

Each semester, the Office of Academic Advocacy (OAA) reviews the First Time in College (FTIC) cohorts to determine which students are affecting USF's 4, 5, and 6 year graduation rates. We identify students who 1) are meeting graduation requirements but have not yet applied to graduate; 2) are in need of some assistance to ensure they meet the 6 year graduation point; and 3) who are off-track and do not appear to be in courses applying towards their declared major. These students are sent emails requesting they meet with their academic advisor or an academic advocate to discuss their options.

COMPLETING WITHOUT GRADUATION APPLICATION

OAA works directly with academic advisors and colleges regarding students who are at the point of completion but have not submitted the graduation application. If an advisor has any concerns or information regarding a student on the list of potential graduates, they are encouraged to contact academicadvocacy@usf.edu to consult.

NEEDING A PLAN FOR COMPLETION

If an advisor feels that a student is not progressing to graduation and needs more intrusive monitoring, they are encouraged to refer a student to an academic advocate via the Archivum Insights platform.

RESELECTING A STUDENT

Advisors may reselect (RSL) and send the student a notification and submit a referral to an academic advocate via the Archivum Insights platform if that student is not actively pursuing the declared major.
